Creepy Dates chapters compared: what changes in 1, 2 and 3

Last updated:

Creepy Dates has three playable chapters, and almost everything that locks players out of content happens in Chapter 1. This page compares what each chapter contributes, where the branch points live, and what carries over — with the release dates and sources the chapters overview documents.

Chapter 1: the chapter of triggers

Chapter 1 is the shortest, but it sets more of the game than any other chapter. Four things happen in it:

  • Character creation and the forest. You create your character, then choose between Jeff and Eyeless Jack in the forest. Both choices are safe — the documented evidence is that neither locks anything later.
  • The favourite pick. You name your favourite creepypasta. This gates later content on that character's path, most visibly Toby's, where the pick is a documented step of his route.
  • The room-order rule begins. The forest teaches nothing about it, but inside the CreepyHouse, room-entry order decides encounters. Walking into Toby's room early is the game's most famous lock-out, and it happens in Chapter 1's house section.
  • The proxy offer. At the end of the chapter, Slenderman offers to make you his proxy. This is the biggest branch in the game: refusing opens the Chapter 2 mansion tour (Jeff, Ben, Eyeless Jack content); accepting opens the proxy-mission branch instead.

Chapter 1 released in July 2025. Its exact day is the one release date not traceable to a developer devlog.

Chapter 2: the split the proxy choice built

Chapter 2 (released 13 October 2025) is where the Chapter 1 proxy decision pays out, and the two versions of the chapter look very different:

Refused the offerAccepted the offer
Mansion tourYes — Jeff shows you the house, including the weapons closetNo
Weapons closet sceneAvailable (needs high Jeff affection and the favourite pick)Unseen
Jeff-or-Ben choiceAvailableUnseen
Basement console (meeting Ben)AvailableUnseen
Proxy missionsUnseenYes — choose a mission partner (one player picked Masky and Hoodie and attacked a tower)

The clean-up sequence with Slenderman also runs here, and skipping the basement console is a reported reason it stalls. A Chapter 2 bug that froze the story after rejecting a proxy mission while Slenderman was your favourite was fixed in October 2025 — update your build if you hit it.

Chapter 3: the biggest chapter by far

Chapter 3 (announced 24 February 2026, released 15 May 2026) is the largest build and the source of most current player questions. Its headline content:

  • Laughing Jack's party — the social hub of the chapter, where affection levels visibly shape how characters treat you.
  • The decorating sequence — the richest exploration window in the game. Three rooms plus the basement, hidden conversations in side rooms, the tapes and camera in Masky and Hoodie's room, and Nina's Polaroids.
  • Spin the bottle in the basement — Jeff proposes it after shooting down everyone else's ideas.
  • Slenderman's visiting brothers — the reason Masky and Hoodie are conspicuously elsewhere.
  • The summoning ritual — how Slenderman's route actually starts: paper, marker, candles from your bin.

Chapter 3 is also a substantially bigger download, so it is more demanding on low-end devices; a bug that broke the game after a Laughing Jack conversation was hotfixed within hours of release.

Chapter 4 and what carries over

Chapter 4 is announced for 25 October on Hahadit's Tumblr — not yet released, no devlog yet, and any walkthrough for it is fake. The developer has said the full game will run five or six chapters, with an NSFW DLC and extra routes added after the main story ends.

What carries over between chapters is your saves: chapters ship as add-ons to a single build, so installing a new chapter preserves progress. What does not carry over is anything you locked out in Chapter 1 — the room-order rule and the proxy split both write their consequences into the save permanently. That is why the chapter-boundary saving habit matters more in this game than in most.

FAQ

How many chapters does Creepy Dates have?

Three are playable as of August 2026. Chapter 4 is dated 25 October on the developer's Tumblr, and the plan is five or six chapters in total.

Does the proxy choice lock content?

Yes — it is the game's biggest branch. Refusing opens the Chapter 2 mansion tour and its route content; accepting opens the proxy-mission branch instead. Neither ends the game.

Which chapter is the longest?

Chapter 3 by a wide margin — it is also the largest download and the most demanding on lower-end devices.

Do saves carry into new chapters?

Yes. Chapters are add-ons: install the new file, load your latest save, and the new chapter appears in your chapters section.
