Jeff the Killer route: meeting him first and his room
Last updated:
To get the Jeff the Killer route in Creepy Dates, head towards Jeff rather than Eyeless Jack when you first reach the forest. Then refuse Slenderman's proxy offer at the end of Chapter 1 — that is what opens Jeff's mansion tour in Chapter 2, where the weapons closet leads to Eyeless Jack and the Jeff-or-Ben choice.
- In the forest, go to Jeff instead of Eyeless Jack.
- Refuse Slenderman's proxy offer at the end of Chapter 1.
- In Chapter 2, click the weapons closet during Jeff's house tour.
- Meet Eyeless Jack, then choose Jeff to continue his route.
His room is also the most useful in the game: the hoodie in his clothes holds the knife other scenes depend on, and the burned family photo there ties into Nina and Liu. Details below.
Making Jeff the first character you meet
When you reach the forest you can head towards Jeff or towards Eyeless Jack. Choosing Jeff is safe — a player walking someone through the Toby trigger explicitly confirmed that going to either of them in the forest causes no problems later.
The thing to avoid is not a character, it's a room: entering Toby's room too early is what removes an encounter.
What is in Jeff's room
The pile of clothes, the underwear, the hoodie and the knife
Click the pile of clothes on Jeff's floor: a player walking others through his route reported that giving him his underwear raises his love meter a lot. Take the hoodie from the same mess and you get the knife with it. You need the knife to try Masky and Hoodie's door, which is the step that brings Toby to you. Even if you are not chasing Toby, grab it.
The weapons closet in Chapter 2
During Jeff's house tour, click the closet when he mentions it is a weapons closet. If his affection is high enough and he is your favourite, he takes you outside to teach you to use them. You pick a weapon, meet Eyeless Jack, and then choose whether to continue with Jeff or with Ben — that choice, not the weapon itself, is what decides whose route CGs you get. Which weapons the closet lists, and whether the pick does anything mechanical, has not been confirmed.
The desk
Covered in knife cuts, empty bottles and blood stains. Examining it is flavour rather than a trigger, and your character has some opinions about whether he'll ever clean it.
The family photo
Among the mess there is an old, worn, partly burned photo where the figures are barely visible. It reads as a family photo, and it connects to Jeff dismissing his brother Liu Woods elsewhere in the dialogue.
Your character also mentions having already stolen a lot of things from his room across previous visits, so it is worth re-checking between chapters.
Jeff in Chapter 3
Jeff is the one who proposes spin the bottle at Laughing Jack's party, after shooting down everyone else's ideas. He also offers you a drink from a bottle off the basement shelves, which you can turn down. And he is dismissive about Liu when the subject comes up — "that's what he makes you believe, he's a complete idiot".
During the decorating sequence he is out of the house, so his room is a quiet place to explore.
The Chapter 2 branch: Jeff or Ben
The decision that actually shapes his route comes during the mansion tour, and it needs two prerequisites done earlier:
- Refuse Slenderman's proxy offer at the end of Chapter 1 — refusing is what opens the tour at all. Both branches are on the choices page.
- Have his affection high and pick him as your favourite creepypasta — that is the documented condition for the weapons-closet scene to go further than flavour. The underwear-in-the-clothes-pile trick below is the fastest way to raise it.
Then, during the tour: click the closet when Jeff names it as a weapons closet, take the trip outside with him, meet Eyeless Jack, and choose Jeff or Ben. That final choice — not the weapon you pick — is what decides whose route scenes you see. Ben's side of the branch is on the Ben route page.
Nina, Liu and the burned family photo
Jeff's room holds an old, partly burned photo that reads as a family picture, and it connects to two characters elsewhere in the game:
- Nina the Killer — in Chapter 3 her own room is full of Polaroids of Jeff, and she can give you a Jeff plush. Show her the burned photo from his room and she tells you his backstory.
- Liu Woods — Jeff's brother, present in person in Chapter 3, helping hang garlands and visibly tense with Jeff. He is also in the damaged photo. Pressed about him in dialogue, Jeff's verdict is "that's what he makes you believe, he's a complete idiot".
Neither has a route — the routes list tracks who is and isn't datable — but both make the photo worth taking during the decorating window, when Jeff is out of the house and his room is empty.
Jeff content that is not in the game
Two things not to fall for. First, the full "Chapter 4 Jeff walkthroughs" circulating on other sites — Chapter 4 has not been released, so scene lists for it are invented. The Chapter 4 status page keeps track of what is actually confirmed. Second, Jeff's broken sprite and the disappearing-jacket bug were real problems, but both were fixed in the Chapter 2 devlog — an up-to-date build should not show either.
Common mistakes on Jeff's route (and how to avoid them)
Jeff's route is one of the easier paths to start, but the same handful of mistakes shows up again and again in player questions. All of them are avoidable with the habits below.
Entering Toby's room before the door scene
This is the single most damaging mistake in the game, and it is a room, not a dialogue choice. Walking into Toby's room before the Masky and Hoodie door sequence removes an encounter you cannot get back without reloading. If your plan includes Toby's route — or even just the full Masky and Hoodie door scene — treat Toby's room as off-limits until the door scene has played out.
Accepting Slenderman's proxy offer
The proxy decision at the end of Chapter 1 is a genuine branch, and accepting it means the Chapter 2 mansion tour never happens — which is where Jeff's weapons closet scene and the Jeff-or-Ben choice live. If you want Jeff, refuse the offer. Both branches are documented on the choices page.
Walking past the clothes pile
The pile of clothes on Jeff's floor looks like set dressing, but it carries two of the route's most useful things: the underwear that raises his love meter sharply, and the hoodie that contains the knife. The knife matters even on non-Jeff runs, because it is the tool that jams Masky and Hoodie's door and triggers the Toby encounter. Grab it every playthrough.
Following a "Chapter 4 Jeff walkthrough"
Chapter 4 has not been released. Any page listing Jeff scenes for it is invented, no matter how confident it looks. The Chapter 4 status page tracks what the developer has actually confirmed, and the itch.io comment thread is where real answers come from.
Playing an outdated build
Jeff's broken sprite and the disappearing-jacket bug were both real, and both were fixed in the Chapter 2 devlog. If your build still shows either, update before assuming something is a puzzle.
Finally, the saving habit that protects all of this: keep a save at the start of every chapter and another the moment you enter a new location. Room-entry order removes more content than any dialogue choice in the game, so a save taken on entering the house is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
