Creepypasta dating games, explained

Dating creepypasta characters has become a genre of its own. This page is the non-branded overview: where the trope came from, which characters are actually datable in the biggest example of the genre, and the safety lens worth keeping on all of it.

The genre's anchor is Creepy Dates, a free dating sim by solo developer Hahadit where the classic creepypasta cast becomes romanceable. Everything below leans on it as the playable example.

The creepypastas you can date in Creepy Dates

Six characters have full romance routes. Where you first meet each one matters — several encounters are gated on the order you explore the house:

A wider cast appears without routes — Laughing Jack, Nina the Killer, Liu Woods, Clockwork, and Slenderman's brothers Splendorman and Offenderman. The full list of who is and isn't datable is on the routes and characters page.

The genre's core tropes

  • The smiling stranger with inconsistent details
  • Phantom texts and screenshots as proof
  • Second-location invitations and sudden urgency
  • Affection that turns possessive when shared with others

Creepy Dates borrows the last one deliberately: Chapter 3 states outright that spreading affection makes jealous characters treat you differently. The horror is the trope, made mechanical.

The safety lens

  • Validate identities across platforms
  • Share live location with trusted contacts
  • Set exit rules before meeting

Enjoying fictional killers is compatible with noticing real-world red flags. Our editorial pieces on real creepy date stories and first-date horror cover the practical side.

Are these the same characters from the original stories?

Mostly no — and that is worth knowing before you argue with a wiki. The Jeff the Killer, Eyeless Jack and Ben Drowned that fans know come from community creepypasta lore (and, for Masky and Hoodie, from the Marble Hornets series). Creepy Dates is Hahadit's own interpretation of that cast: the personalities, designs and relationship webs are hers. Fan wikis document the originals, not this game's versions — our game facts page separates the two.
