Slenderman route: the summoning ritual and his jealousy
Last updated:
You summon Slenderman yourself. In Chapter 3 you write his name on a sheet of paper with a marker, light it with a candle from the bin in your room, and the power cuts out as he arrives. He is a full route, listed by the developer alongside the other five.
He also reacts to who else you have been getting close to — Chapter 3 says outright that too much affection with other characters makes him possessive.
The summoning ritual, step by step
- Get drawing paper and a marker. Your character notes that already-made drawings work too, including ones from the memory box.
- Find the candles. They are in the bin in your room — the game has you dig around in the rubbish for them. This is the step people get stuck on, because a bin is not where anyone looks first.
- Sit in the centre of the rug and write Slenderman's name on the paper with the marker.
- Burn it with the candle. The sheet catches slowly and nothing seems to happen at first.
- Wait. The power goes out, sounds move towards your door, the door opens by itself, and Slenderman is there.
The room he makes for you
Later in his route you wake up somewhere unfamiliar and he shows you a room he has prepared. It is built from answers you gave him earlier — he asks about your favourite animal, favourite dessert and similar details specifically so he can furnish it. He describes it as "just the beginning".
Because the room is generated from your own answers, it does not look the same in every playthrough. That is worth knowing if you have seen a screenshot of someone else's room and can't work out why yours is different. More on this on the rooms guide.
Possessiveness and the jealousy mechanic
Laughing Jack spells this out during Chapter 3: characters become more or less affectionate based on your affection level with them, and if you have built up a lot of affection with several of them at once, Slenderman gets possessive about it.
If you want a clean Slenderman run, keep your affection concentrated. If you want to see the possessive dialogue, do the opposite — it is content, not a fail state.
Things attributed to this route that are not real
The Slenderman route attracts more invented "guides" than any other part of the game. To be clear about what is not in Creepy Dates: there is no sanity meter, there are no collectible note pages to keep you alive, there is no piano puzzle in a library, and there is no ending where he erases your identity for letting a meter run out. Those come from other Slender games and from AI-written fan pages.
Not yet confirmed: Whether the game offers an explicit choice to become one of Slenderman's proxies. He does send you on missions, and Toby, Masky and Hoodie are canonically his proxies, but a confirmed "accept becoming a proxy" decision point has not been documented. We only publish route details we can trace to the developer or to recorded gameplay, so this section will be updated rather than filled in with guesses. If you have a save file that proves otherwise, the Hahadit's official itch.io page comment thread is the fastest place to settle it.
Common mistakes on Slenderman's route
Slenderman's route is the most self-contained path in the game — you summon him yourself, after all — but it has its own failure modes, and more fake guides attached to it than any other route. Here is what actually trips players up.
Hunting for candles in the wrong place
The ritual candles are in the bin in your own room, and the game makes you dig through the rubbish for them. This is the step people get stuck on, because nobody's first instinct is to search a bin. If the ritual will not start, you have not found the candles yet.
Spreading affection across the house
Chapter 3 says it outright: high affection with several characters at once makes Slenderman possessive. If you want a clean run, concentrate your affection. If you want to see the possessive dialogue, do the opposite — it is content, not a failure. What you should not do is drift into a spread run by accident and then assume his scenes are broken when they read differently.
Comparing your summoning room to someone else's
The room he builds for you is generated from answers you gave him earlier — favourite animal, favourite dessert, and so on. It will not match a screenshot from another playthrough, and that difference is by design. More on this in the rooms guide.
Chasing mechanics from other Slender games
There is no sanity meter, no collectible note pages, no piano puzzle, and no identity-erasure ending tied to a meter. All of that comes from other Slender titles and AI-written fan pages. If a guide talks about keeping your sanity up around him, it is not describing Creepy Dates.
Assuming the proxy choice is documented
He sends you on missions, and Toby, Masky and Hoodie are canonically his proxies — but an explicit "become a proxy" decision point has not been documented, and the end-of-Chapter-1 proxy offer is covered on the choices page with both branches. Treat anything more specific as unverified.
The saving advice that covers all of this: chapter-start saves, plus a save the moment the summoning scene begins. The ritual is one of the most replayed sequences in the game, and a good save lets you re-run it without redoing the party.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make Slenderman like me in Creepy Dates?
Complete the summoning ritual in your room, then keep your affection focused on him rather than spread across several characters — Chapter 3 states that high affection with others makes him possessive.
Where are the candles for the Slenderman ritual?
In the bin in your own room. Your character digs through the rubbish and finds them there.
Does Slenderman have a romance route?
Yes. Hahadit lists Slenderman as one of the six available routes on the game page.
Is there a sanity meter on the Slenderman route?
No. Creepy Dates has no sanity system. Guides describing one are not describing this game.
